HAITI BENEFIT CONCERT

featuring Sam Hensley

Saturday, July 31 at 5:00 PM

St. Stephen's Church is proud to welcome Washington DC-based recording artist Sam Hensley for a concert to benefit St. Stephen's outreach work in Haiti. Sam has been writing and performing his own style of Americana music for over 10 years. During these years he has maintained an extensive travel schedule, leading singing, worship, and workshops for middle, high school, and adult groups all over the eastern and southeastern United States. His songs span the genres, from the truths of humanity to the healing of compassion. From the depths of the Louisiana bayou, to Memphis, TN, all the way to the stage of the National Cathedral in Washington, Sam’s music, energy, and leadership have influenced thousands of young people, and inspired many to pickup and explore their own musical calling. Sam has released four recordings, and his latest, “And it goes like this…” is a collection of his original songs written for retreats and Vacation Bible Schools. Sam is married to Erin Hensley, an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church. This will be a family-oriented concert with music to suit all ages.

St. Stephen's has been participating with other Episcopal parishes in East Tennessee to provide elementary education in partnership with Petit Harpon Haiti. Petit Harpon is a small, subsistence farming community in the mountains of the southern peninsula of Haiti. A school was built for them and has been serving for 10 years. Parishes in the Chattanooga area are focused on rebuilding homes lost during the earthquake. St Stephens now wishes to assist the community with establishing a regular medical clinic in an existing building (that survived the earthquake). Nearest medical services currently available are hours away.

Tickets are $10 per individual or $25 for families. Tickets are available at the St. Stephen's Parish Office or at the door starting at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 31.
